About the Patient Fund

All the proceeds from Gaudenzia Erie's fundraisers go to the patient fund, which is used solely for patient needs. Below is a partial list of some of the things we are able to provide for our clients using the Patient Fund:

  • Bus tickets
  • Clothing
  • Personal care items
  • Tickets for games, concerts, etc. - sober recreation
  • Celebrating milestones
  • Gifts for children
  • The "extras"

  • Gaudenzia Graduation

Graduation is a big event for Gaudenzia Erie, Inc. It is a celebration for our clients who have successfully completed treatment. It is not an easy accomplishment. Requirements are:

  • Drug & alcohol free for 1 year
  • Live independently for 4 months
  • Have stable employment or education program
  • Crime-free
  • Stable living arrangements
  • Completed all program requirements
  • Fulfilled all financial commitments to the agency
  • Must be attending AA, ACOA or NA and have a sponsor
  • On June 2, we held our 12th Annual Graduation Ceremony at the West Ballroom of the Bayfront Convention Center. The men and women honored at the graduation ceremony overcame tremendous odds, and today, they are vital, active members of their communities. In addition, they have made significant achievements in work, education and their personal relationships.

This year, the keynote speaker was Dennis Daley, Ph.D., the senior clinical director of Substance Use Services at UPMC Health Plan. Also in attendance was Erie Mayor Joe Schember, who has already agreed to be the keynote speaker for the 2019 ceremony.

    Humanity Against Heroin

In May 2018, Basement Transmissions, which is located at 145 West 11th Street, was the site of Humanity Against Heroin, Part 3, and the proceeds went to benefit Gaudenzia Erie, Inc. This event, which was organized by Vanessa Seppi, of Don't Blink Photography & Design, was free and open to the public. In addition to 12 bands, there were speakers, vendors, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and a Chinese auction. At this event, more than $400 was raised to benefit Gaudenzia Erie, Inc.’s programs and services.

    The Gaudenzia Ball

The Gaudenzia Ball is a fun time for our clients and staff. A fall event, the tables are turned and staff prepares and serves food to clients from all of our facilities at an outside location. The last few years it has been held in the basement of the First Prebyterian Church of the Covenant.

Clients work on skits weeks in advance and then perform them on stage with music and creative props. There is a new theme each year related to some aspect of recovery. There are judges, including local personalities, who determine which group will receive the coveted trophy. We all have a great time!
